Athens Ancient Agora

Steve is feeling a little better today.

We saw the Temple of Hephaestus from the Acropolis yesterday. Today we go to visit it as it’s on a hill above the Ancient Agora.

Next we visited the Ancient Agora. It’s mostly foundations and outlines of buildings.

The re-constructed of Stoa of Attalos is next to the Ancient Agora.

The Stoa is now a museum. It had a wide assortment of objects.

A Kleroterion was used to randomly select citizens for tasks like serving on a Boule or jury.

We had lunch, then went to the Museum of Greek Folk Musical Instruments. It had examples of many instruments as well as recordings of folk music.

Steve was feeling well enough to consider going to Delphi tomorrow. We booked a bus tour there that leaves from a hotel a few blocks from our hotel. We walked over to the hotel to make sure we know how to go early tomorrow morning. We passed the Agia Dynami Church in Syntagma that has a building built over it. It’s also called the Holy Church of the Sacred Power.

We also passed by the Metropolitan Cathedral which has a number of stores surrounding it selling Greek Orthodox religious supplies.
