Trek 100 Ride
Got there a little later than we wanted, but still made my 7:30am start time. 63/64 degrees at start. I wore my arm warmers.
Bo Jackson, former MLB star is the grand marshal this year.
Here’s a map of the routes:
The riders started in waves, we were off to the side to join wave 2.
I didn’t eat before the ride, so I ate well at first stop 15 miles in. I took my arm warmers off at this point. The theme of this stop was superheros, and the Trek employees working the stop were dressed up.
The second stop was polka themed. The guys riding in lederhosen kit fit right in.
I rode the 62-mile course. Met Donna at my third stop (her second) which had a pirate theme.
Donna started 2 hours later and arrived at the stop a few minutes before me. We rested there a long time then rode to the finish together.
They had a barbecue meal at the finish.
Graham, our host from Trek headquarters, had some excitement, he had to drive out to the second stop to help corral a runaway calf that was on the course wreaking havoc. It happened after I had left that stop.
John Burke, the Trek president, rode the 62-mile route. He was leaving the stops as I was getting to them.
After completing the ride, there was a provided lunch and some booths set up. Trek had a big tent selling apparel related to the ride and showing off some of their bikes. SRAM also had a booth.

MACC, the organization that the ride is raising money for, had a booth there. We had a nice visit with the MACC president.
The wind forecast at the Madison airport was 120@6, but the actual wind in the afternoon was 130@13. I’m glad I didn’t go on the 100 mile as that would have been lots of riding into the wind on the way back.
There were 1400 registered riders.
