Lake Scott

We drove to Lake Scott State Park in the morning, and arrived just before lunch. It was supposed to rain, but it only amounted to a few drops. The drought continues.

We drove over in the morning and ate lunch at a picnic area near the entrance to the park by a small lake. We were rewarded when this kingfisher showed up.

The primary reason we came is to see El Cuartelejo, the furthest northeast pueblo that was ever found. It was excavated in the late 1800’s, and the reconstructed in the 1970’s to the condition that was found when first excavated.

We did some hiking, though not as much as normal as I was feeling sick.

We drove up to Little Jerusalem Badlands, which isn’t that far away and walked the long hiking trail.
