St. Rémy day 5

The mistral was still blowing lightly. The forecast suggested that the wind was going to fade and the rain starting around 9-10 am.

We had a 20 mile ride at 7:12 am before breakfast. We finished just before the sprinkles arrived. Just enough time to eat breakfast and get cleaned up.

About 53 degrees at start, we used our new Trek jerseys that we bought yesterday afternoon, which were warm enough with a t-shirt underneath after you started pedaling.

Our train out of Avignon TGV had been canceled because it was Ascension Day. We had reserved seats on the train, and we were not notified of the cancellation. Donna worked with one of the few folks at the station to find a new routing for over a half an hour. We got sent to the central train station by taxi and we’ll have five different trains go get to Berlin.

Our route ended up being Avignon Central to Valence Ville to Geneva to Biel (really tight five minute connection, but on the other side of the same platform) to Basal to Berlin. The Basal to Berlin replaces several late night train changes in our original schedule, so that’s a win getting rid of a 4 minute train switch a 1:30am.

Ate supper at 8 pm in Basel station, as we had an hour there. Donna wanted Thai food, but they had cleaned up everything.
