St. Rémy day 4
The mistral was blowing again, not as much as yesterday. We will be able to ride.
A late start was the original plan, so we could see the market. Bought some spices.
We saw a poster advertising a bull fight. We saw the bulls a week ago and learned about this type of bull fighting when we visited a farm in Camargue.
Our ride takes us south out of St. Rémy over the little Alps to Les Baux. The wind pushed us up and over the hill to the southwest of St Rémy.
The guides had set up the bike parking a quarter mile from the steps up to Les Baux. It’s a mountain road, so there isn’t much parking. About 10k to there. Lunch on your own. Many folks found the sandwich shop we found. There are some castle ruins up there, but we didn’t have a lot of time to visit, and it was an extra charge, so we skipped it.
The small church had a nice tapestry in it.
There was a little museum of Santons there.
Then a 40 k ride that was mostly flat back to town.
At the last rest stop, one member caught up to us. He had a nice sit down meal in Le Baux, and it took longer. He didn’t finish his bottle of wine and brought it with him.
Some of the roads that we biked on follow the Roman roads.
Many others were wearing Trek St. Rémy jerseys. Turns out there is a Trek store about two minutes away walking. We went over and got heavier, long-sleeved jerseys as it will be rather cool in the morning, and we don’t own cooler weather bike jerseys.
Then back for a swim and shower, then our farewell dinner.
