St. Rémy day 3

The ride to Point du Gard is canceled due to high winds, gusting to 50 mph. To dangerous to ride across the bridge across the Rhône river with those side winds.

We took the first shuttle us over and will get more time there.

The Pont du Gard was built to carry water to Nîmes. There are tunnels through the hilltops on either end to carry water to the aqueduct.

The winds pushed our van around as we crossed the bridge over the Rhône river. I would not want to be biking in those winds.

Donna had scheduled a massage in the mid afternoon, so she stayed at the hotel for that. I walked the Vincent “trail”

out to Saint-Paul Hospital. St. Rémy is a quaint little tourist town with narrow streets, but is mostly walkable. The trail has many stops that display Van Gogh paintings. Some of the stops have placards showing paintings that were painted close to the stop.

You could see signs of the mistral blowing many places with branches down.

This olive grove is likely where Starry Night was painted.
