Paris

This is the last day of our first tour. Tomorrow, we would normally fly home.

Easy run on the treadmill at 6:30 am. This afternoon was on your own time, so we elected to take the TGV to Avignon today so we are there for the start of our bike tour tomorrow morning at 11 am.

This morning we took a bus over to near Notre Dame. Tower of St James,

the first castle of the French kings,

and Notre Dame.

There was a bread and pastry demonstration near there, it smelled great. Yolanda bought a pastry that we hadn’t had yet for us to try.

I enjoyed watching the croissants making, including dough laminating and the final rolling out.

We saw some green parrots in a tree, apparently some escaped a several years ago and now live feral in the city.

Paris has lots of narrow streets to get lost in.

We ate lunch at Pizza Pino, splitting a salad and a pizza.

We got taxi to Gare de Lyon. Arrived plenty early, waited around and got on train 20 minutes early.

We had about 2 1/2 - 3 minutes to get off the train in Avignon. Then a half mile walk to the hotel. The hotel is an interesting place, there is no attendant overnight, you enter a code to get in the door, then a code to open a safe with all the keys picking up overnight. There were about twenty envelopes each with a name.

We walked another half mile to a Turkish restaurant for supper. It was ok. Tried to do a little laundry in the evening. Not enough coins for the laundry, so washed a few things in the sink.
