Lyon
Today we tour Lyon.
I got up early and went for a 5K run at 6:30 am along the river. There is a nice path on the east side of the river. I passed by the Musée des Confluences
and the LiLe O theater.
After breakfast we Rode the subway and funicular up to and toured the Basilica Notre-Dame of Fourvière,
the Roman Theatre of_Fourvière,
the Lyon Cathedral. It sprinkled a little bit.
Lyon has a history as a silk weaving hub. We just passed by this store and I noticed it. Apparently there are silk tours in Lyon.
The Charvet clock was made in 1864 and plays a tune on the bells every 15 minutes, and a longer tune on the hour.
Back to the boat for lunch, then out to a vineyard for the home hosted visit. Our host, Celia, attended the Sorbonne for a masters in geography. She started working in the tourism industry in this wine region. She met her boyfriend in 2017. She has been working with him full time since 2020 on their vineyard.
The port talk mentioned that there were 9 that tested positive Covid that are quarantined on the boat. Not sure how many roommates without Covid were also quarantined.
The farewell dinner was after the port talk and a little time to pack before the pianist at 9 pm. Caught end of concert, Chopin, her own piece inspired by Japan then Debussy “Claire de Lune” to end.
Tomorrow morning we leave the ship and take the high speed TGV train to Paris.
