Philipsburg, St. Maarten

We visited St. Maarten in 2022 on our cruise to the Amazon River.

We attempted to go birding on our own, but didn’t find the one narrow pathway through the bushes around the pond that has a view of the pond. We walked back to the main taxi stand in Philipsburg to get a taxi to Parrotte Ville. Parrotte Ville has around 35 species of birds in their aviary.

You get a seed cup and can spend as much time as you want in the aviary with the birds. We spent a little over two hours there.

The Cockatoos felt shy and didn’t come down to hang out with people.

Parrots can be curious, this one wanted to see the photo I took.

The ring-necked parakeets enjoyed hiding on my backpack from me and my camera. They also sat on my hat and tried to chew on the elastic cord.

We took a taxi back to the ship and had lunch, then walked back out to look at Philipsburg a bit more.
