Belize City, Belize

We visited Belize in 2023, but didn’t spend any time in Belize City. The ship has to stay outside the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System, so the tender ride to the dock takes 40 minutes.

We have booked a tour to visit the Altun Ha Mayan Site and then a boat ride on the river. The group is divided in two. Half start with a bus ride to Altun Ha, the other half start with the boat ride on the river. We will swap vehicles at lunch time.

Altun Ha has two plazas with temples around them. We climbed a temple on each plaza.

We went to a restaurant next to the Black Orchid hotel that we stayed at when we visited Belize a few years ago for lunch.

There were a few birds hanging around.

Then we got in the boat and looked for wildlife.

The boat took us back to the dock to catch the tender back to the boat.
