Jamaica
Jamaica is a small island south of Cuba.
On the sea day, I rode my age in miles on the stationary bike. I started very early in the morning got about 60% done and the gym got busy. I split it into two sessions finishing in the afternoon when the gym was empty. The masked boobies played around ship much of the day, providing entertainment for me to watch while I biked.
We dock at the cruise ship terminal in Ocho Rios. Originally we were supposed to dock in Falmouth, but too many other ships were going to be there, so our ship changed ports.
It was a short walk off the ship to Turtle Creek park. The taxi drivers/tour guides are aggressive here. We went in a group of six that grew a bit when others felt less comfortable alone and joined. In the bigger group we took turns, so you didn’t have to fend them off all the time.
We saw quite a bit of wildlife on our walk. These herons show all three stages, the white juveniles, a bird transitioning to adult feathers and the purple maroon of the adults.
In the afternoon, two of the group and I went out for another longer walk. The taxi/tour guides were less aggressive in the afternoon.
We also saw some interesting plants.
