Everglades National Park - Shark Valley

We drove from Everglades City, FL on the western side of Everglades National Park on 41 through Big Cypress National Preserve and Everglades National Park over to the east side of the park in Homestead, FL. Everglades National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Andersonville Civil War Prison

Andersonville, GA is the site of a confederate prison in the Civil war. It now includes the National Prisoner of War Museum. It was misty and foggy the day we visited.

St. Louis

We stopped in St. Louis to visit Donna’s brother and sister-in-law. It was fairly nice for January, reaching 55 F, so we were able to go out and walk in some parks. We also went to the St. Louis Science Museum and saw Antarctica.

Everglades

Today we get off the ship and return home. Our flight was later in the afternoon, so we booked an Everglades airboat tour that dropped us off at the airport. Airboats are not allowed in Everglades National Park, so this tour is in an area outside the National Park, but is very similar to the park.
