Avignon

We started the day with the 7 am stretching class on the top of the boat before breakfast.

We walked to the remains of the Saint-Bénézet Bridge for photos. It was built in the 1200s and abandoned in the 1600s due to repeated damage from river flooding.

Arles to Avignon

This morning we leave Arles, France and sail up river to Avignon, with a quick stop to pick up some folks that went on an optional tour to Le Baux and Carrieres de Lumieres. We’ll ride there on our bike tour afterwards, so we skipped it.

Arles

At 9:00am there was a walking tour of Arles with a local guide. We went by the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Roman coliseum, theater, and the city halls from the 13th, 15th and 17th centuries.

Nice to Arles

This morning we leave Nice, France and travel by bus to Arles, with a short stop at the Rhône American cemetery in Draguignan, France.

Dry Tortugas National Park

Dry Tortugas National Park is 70 miles west of Key West. The park includes the waters around Fort Jefferson. We got lucky, and the waves and westerly wind were not bad. I was able to stand on the front of the boat for much of the trip, looking for wildlife.

Everglades National Park - Flamingo

After our day on the water at Biscayne Bay, we returned to Everglades National Park for two days, exploring the eastern portion of the park. Everglades National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
