The primary attraction in Kusadasi is a trip to Ephesus. We saw Ephesus on our trip to Turkey the year before, so we chose to walk over to Pigeon Island also known as Güvercinada, to see birds and the old fort.

The ship arrived at 7:30 am and docked in Heraklion. We saw a number of tour groups headed to Knossos right away, so we decided to head to the Archeological museum first.

We had booked a tour to Delos from the ship for today. Delos is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The ship arrived at 9 am, and Santorini is a tender port. Santorini was once known as Ancient Thera. We were not able to book the ship’s tour of Akrotiri, because those tours filled up before we booked the cruise. But we figured out how to do it on our own.

Today is a sea day and we went forward an hour due to moving east.

We docked in Dubrovnik at 8 am and took a shuttle bus over to the old city UNESCO World Heritage Site. We bought tickets to tour the old city Dubrovnik walls on our own.

We have a busy day today starting with a tour from the ship in the morning that goes to Salona and the UNESCO World Heritage Site Trogir.

We had a 9 am transfer from Vienna to Ravenna. When we arrived at 8:30 am at the transfer pickup point, we found that our names were not on the transfer list, along with a number of others. They also couldn’t fill a bus with people as the luggage area would fill before the seats did. Our bus had 18 empty seats, and we got pulled out of line to get on because we had small luggage that would still fit below.

It’s a three-hour bus ride to the ship, so they needed to call additional busses to get everyone to the ship.

We had some issues getting to Venice. There had been weather delays in Newark, NJ for the past several days. The flight from Kansas City to Newark had been canceled the previous two days. We got on the plane, but after they closed the door but before the plane pushed back, the pilot announced a three-hour delay due to approaching thunderstorms in Newark. We all got off and waited.

We got up at 6 am. I took my shower, Donna took hers last night. I am still coughing up green stuff. We made it to the train platform and got some pastries. The train was late getting in, it left 15 minutes late. It’s supposed to rain in Berlin today, we’ve had four nice days. It rained while we were on the train.
